GOE Alliance at DAVAS 2026: Redefining Supervision as Vietnam's Sandbox Advantage

5 minutes

As part of DAVAS 2026, Dr. Tony Trần, Policy & Innovation Director at GOE Alliance, joined the panel discussion on “Da Nang IFC and Sandbox – Drivers of Innovation in Vietnam.”

Drawing from his experience contributing to the development of Vietnam’s IFC sandbox framework, Tony highlighted an often-overlooked factor behind successful financial centers: effective supervision and monitoring capabilities.

Three key insights were shared during the discussion:

• Strong supervision enables greater innovation. When regulators have visibility and control, they can provide a larger and safer space for experimentation.

• The next generation of fintech requires real-time oversight. As financial services become increasingly digital, monitoring systems must evolve to detect risks and respond quickly.

• Better monitoring creates a better environment for innovators. Clear oversight helps build trust, reduce uncertainty, and encourage more businesses to participate in sandbox programs.

The discussion also explored how Da Nang IFC can position itself as a regional hub for financial innovation, digital assets, and innovation-led investment, supporting Vietnam’s ambition to become a leading digital economy.
